Each year we host Education Week in Edmonton where budding florists and experienced designers from across Western Canada learn basic floral design skills and build their portfolios.
Lea Romanowski, AIFD CAFA CAFD CFD, facilitated engaging Basic Level 1 and Intermediate Level 2 Floral Design courses. Students learned design and colour theory, and crafted centrepieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, and celebration of life arrangements (just to name of few). With over 35 years of floral design experience, Lea also shared her own industry tips and insights that she’s learned throughout the years.
The Floral Fixx’s Julie Dueck led Bring it, Book it, Blossom: Advanced Floral Event Techniques & Design Mechanics. In this course, experienced floral designers developed wedding designs to be used in a styled photoshoot (model, decor, stationary, and all) with Jill Demianiw. Students used a beautiful burgundy fresh floral palette to create a moon arch, bouquets, floral rings, and many other wedding elements. Julie also shared the steps she takes on attracting, booking and collaborating with clients.
Students left feeling inspired and empowered to begin crafting their own designs and run a successful floral business.
Here are a few highlights:
“Bring It Book It Blossom It! Julie from @thefloralfixx is a floral educator and it was so amazing to watch her in action. She is so passionate about her business and sharing with these students was awesome to watch and capture. @floristssupply welcomed me with open arms in Edmonton and I learned a ton as well as met some incredible people and artists. I am so thankful for this experience. Dress by @annalangofficial Makeup & Hair by
