Registration Fees

  • $650 + tax includes all mechanics supplies and fresh flowers for hands-on portion. Please bring an apron(optional), sharp floral knife, floral shears, scissors, and wire cutter.
  • Register with Intermediate Floral Design and take both courses for $1,025+ tax (Save $150)
  • Register with Increasing Your Floral Sympathy Business and take both courses for $925 + tax (Save $50)

Day 1

Basic vase design methods and construction techniques:

  • Rose vase arrangement – 6 and 12 stems
  • Mixed flower vase arrangements

Spiral handtied technique:

  • Construction of handtied mixed flower bouquet
  • Green a vase for a mixed flower arrangement
  • Vase arrangement using a spiral handtied bouquet

Day 2

  • One-sided, small triangle arrangement in floral foam
  • One-sided, large triangle arrangement in floral foam (sympathy/funeral arrangement)
  • Asymmetrical triangle arrangement in floral foam (centrepiece)

Day 3

  • Traditional wiring and taping technique for corsage and boutonniere
  • All-around centrepiece arrangement in floral foam
  • Round bridal bouquet in a fresh floral foam holder

Hosting Business Building DIY Floral Workshops

How involved are you in your local community? Hosting DIY Workshops in your shop or studio can help generate awareness for your business, engage with existing clients, and meet new ones!

During our Spring Floral Design Workshop,  Sharon McGukin, AIFD, AAF, PFCI, Smithers-Oasis Design Director, will take you step-by-step on how to craft three on-trend designs, and coach your clients to do the same. Learn how to design these Instagram-worthy pieces:

  1. Succulent Wreath
  2. Fresh Arrangement with Preserved and Dried Botanicals
  3. Garden Flower Centrepiece

Suitable for fresh floral designers with a minimum one year experience. Includes all fresh flowers and design materials. Please bring your own knife, flower snips, apron, and wire cutters.

Sharon McGukin, Smithers-Oasis Design DirectorSharon McGukin (Mac-Goo-kin) AIFD, AAF, PFCI inspires others to ‘celebrate life with flowers’. Sharon is known nationally for her floral expertise, southern charm and energetic connection with audiences as an entertaining and informative speaker.

She began her career as a small town florist with floral adventures leading her around the world. She has consulted in Asia for the home décor industry and presented flower demonstrations or tracked floral trends across the US, Canada, and Europe. From decorating floats at the Rose Bowl Parade to designing flowers in the White House, this floral fashionista has lots of flower stories to share.
