As the weather cools, the days get shorter, and the pumpkin spice infuses coffee, we get ready to fully embrace all of our favourite fall florals in the next month. Deep and subtle tones that reflect the changing season around us are always popular for fall themed floral designs. Whether it be for a moody wedding or a bountiful floral Thanksgiving centrepiece, these fresh flowers do the trick. We have gathered a list of some of our favourite fall florals for this year.
Carnations: While carnations are available all year long, there is something about these hues that just make us want to cozy up for fall. Antique pinks and dual tone deep purples are a romantic way to celebrate the changing season, while the bright Mustard and Orange provide a subtle pop of colour. Varieties like Mustard, Creola, and Sepia Thrill are great choices.
Roses: In the summer, light shades of garden roses are a hit, but as fall sets in, deeper tones of subtle blooms like Toffee and Amnesia are a perfect fit.
Hydrangeas: Another summer favourite that provides a perfect transition into fall, dual toned speckled Hydrangeas like the Antiques do perfectly.
Fall Poms: Fall brings out the best in Poms! The fall varieties are abundant with the orange and yellow tones familiar with the colour of changing leaves. Varieties like Lynette, Magna, Holanda, Timber and Drum are all complimentary to fall designs.
Mums: Just like Poms, Mums look great in fall. Bronze and Red Velvet are a classic favourite!
Fillers: Need we say more about these stunning fillers? Added into bouquets or arrangements they quickly steal the show. Blooms like Amaranthus, Chocolate Lace, Leucadendron, Scabiosa Pods, Solidago, and Strawflower are amazing for their rich colours and fresh texture.
Drieds: Preserved Florals fit well into a fall theme; their subtle shades and unique textures resemble the crisp fall foliage. While Pampas has become a staple, alternatives like the flowy Congo Grass, Bunny Tails, Phalaris, Spears, Hanging Amaranthus, and Aveena are easily a contender for top long lasting florals.
Branches: Chinese Lanterns are a classic branch synonymous with fall, but if you are looking for a more subtle nod to the season in your designs, Pussy Willow, Cotton, and Gold Ilex provide a gorgeous substitute!
