Renovations have recently started at Florists Supply Calgary, with the branch expanding to twice its current size.
“Two adjacent bays in the existing building became available and we were excited at the opportunity to lease those bays, allowing an expansion to better service Calgary and the surrounding market, without the need to move”, stated Laurie Nesbitt, President.
Florists Supply has been operating in the original space it inherited in the purchase of The Flower Group in 2014 at 6320 11th Street SE in Bays 4 and 5. Bays 6 and 7 will be added during the expansion. The plan is for the front entrance to move to Bay 7.
Moving from two bays to four bays will bring the total space to just under 11,000 square feet. The additional space will be used to house a deeper and wider breadth of Supplies inventory including all types of containers and permanent botanicals. Many of these products up to now have been transferred from the larger Edmonton branch on a weekly basis. Refrigeration space will also be expanded to meet growing needs and assist with seasonal peaks. The additional bays also allow more flexibility in shipping and receiving as additional docks and entrances are added.
“We so look forward to expanding our surroundings and product offerings to our customers,” Julie Smeed, Calgary Branch Manager. “The extra space will allow us to stock more of the essentials our customers require everyday as well as a much wider selection of decorative Supplies our market is asking us for.”
Renovations and new fixtures are targeted to be done this Spring and the branch will then begin adding more inventory. We will update our customers on our progress as it unfolds.
The expansion brings the total space occupied by Florists Supply to approximately 112,000 square feet amongst its five locations in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver.
