Florists Supply Customer Relationships

We understand that some have questions about our lines of business and our customers. We want to make sure everyone understands the options they have to work with us to grow their business, and we’d like to do our best to clarify any questions you might have.

Florists Supply is committed to being solely a wholesaler, and helping our customers grow.

We’re proud to be exclusively a wholesaler, helping our customers succeed with high-quality product, expertise and advice. We also want our customers to succeed without any conflict of interest: we have no ownership over any businesses who sell directly to consumers, whether they operate in storefronts or online (as can be confirmed by doing a legal search of current shareholders and directors of any company who sells flowers directly to the end consumer). Our commitment to being a fair wholesaler also means that we have had no part in the conceptualization of any customer.

We are always excited to share our insights and knowledge with existing and potential customers.

Florists Supply sells a variety of products to help customers succeed: cut flowers, supplies, and bouquets.

While most are familiar with our cut flowers and supply services and products, you may have questions about our bouquet services.

There are many considerations when taking on bouquet customers. Bouquets require staffing and space. Bouquet pricing is set to include fair market value for fresh flowers, design and handling labour, and overhead allocation.

Bouquet customers must make and uphold minimum weekly commitments, including during holidays.

We provide the product, and the bouquet customer must take care of all other aspects of their business. That includes delivery to their end consumer.

We have offered pre-made items to all of our customers including: Christmas greens, permanent botanical arrangements, funeral wreaths, potted plants and trees, and bouquets. Customers do not experience additional labour costs on these items.

While these pre-made designs are of interest to some of our customers, many others still prefer to sell their own creative designs. Some customers also feel they can produce the same item using components at a lower price. We think these are all great options, and recommend doing what works best for you.

Florists Supply is committed to equal, fair pricing for all customers.

We strictly believe in not favouring one area of floral retail over the other to help create fair competition for all of our customers. Our customers determine their own retail pricing.

Each of our customers, whether small or large, is contributing to our ability to bring products and pricing that end consumers want. We, ourselves and our customers, work collectively to maintain prices based on the volumes we purchase. Our breadth of customers also allows us to offer a broader assortment of desirable products.

Does Florists Supply support all of the representations of our customers?

The representations made by any of our customers are solely our customers’ representations. We are not privy to any of our customers’ marketing plans or programs. Customers are responsible for their product, and their representations such as freshness and guarantees.

An Evolving Industry

Florists Supply has been supplying products, education and financial credit to flower resellers for over 80 years. That said, we have seen many shifts and changes within the floral industry throughout the decades.

By ensuring our prices and services are on a level playing field for everyone, we believe there is room for a variety of floral business models within our industry. Our customers choose the breadth of products and services they deliver and how they differentiate and market themselves, providing end consumers more ways to access fresh flowers.

While we understand that there are new entrants to the market who can appear to be a new concept, e-commerce floral companies have existed for quite some time. Other floral resellers have also taken advantage of Amazon.com and Amazon.ca to sell their fresh flower arrangements and non-perishable floral products.

Grocery stores have sold bouquets and arrangements constructed by outsourced vendors for several decades. Bulk warehouse retailers, such as Costco, also provide fresh flowers and floral supplies for businesses and end-consumers to purchase.

As the industry evolves, hundreds of successful Canadian retail florists continue to thrive as they differentiate themselves from new competition.

The floral industry continues to adapt and innovate, and so do our most successful customers.
